Navatech Ltd was contracted by Bibby Offshore to perform the seafastening of a MDL Reel Drive (RDS) system with two reels: 9.2m reel (86.7Te) and 8.6m reel (91Te) onboard the Normand Clipper, as part of the shell Pierce project.
The work involved the seafastening of the following items:
– A&R Winch
– Tensioner and chute
– Bollard
– Reel Drive System with two 300Te reels (Design was made for two 300Te reels in anticipation of future work award.)
- Creation of two new stb/port grillages for the second 300Te reel
- modification/upgrade of the existing port&stb grillages using friction grip bolt connections to allow stronger connections between the port and stb grillages. Only four double cleats per reels were used, allowing a quick reel drive system installation
– Rigging design for the grillages
